Grade 7- Safety Measures to Minimize Injuries

The following are safety measures used to minimize injuries in the locality.

  1. To minimize cuts.

  2. Do not leave loose cutting tools unattended.

  3. Keep blades in separate drawers.

  4. Keep your free hand away from path of the cutting blade.

  5. Do not use a cutting blade as a screwdriver or a chisel.

 

To minimize burns

  1. Place warning signs or stickers near hot equipment or surfaces.

  2. Wear heat resistant gloves and aprons.

  3. Use a waiter’s cloth to protect arms while carrying hot plates or trays.

  4. Use dry cloths to pick up hot items to avoid scalding.


To minimize Scalds

  1. Cover equipment containing hot fat or fluids when not in use.

  2. Use a tray or trolley to serve hot liquids.

  3. Operate steam equipment with steam valves directed away from body

 

To Minimize Fractures

  1. Keep workspaces free from clutter, especially the floors.

  2. Keep floor surfaces smooth but not slippery.

  3. Be aware of differences in floor levels and thresholds when entering rooms.

  4. Keep electrical and telephone cords and wires out of walkaways.
