Grade 7- Falling Shot in Handball

Shooting – it involves throwing the ball in to the opponent’s goal to make a score.


Safety measures to be observed when performing shooting in handball

  1. Never aim to hit or injure the goalkeeper with the ball.

  2. Take turn and shoot one player at a time

  3. Warm up adequately before starting the shooting activity

  4. Adhere to the instructions given by the instructor

  5. Be conscious of the nature of the floor or the ground while making a falling or a dive shot.


Types of shots in handball include:

a) Jump shot

b) Dive shot

c) Running shot

d) Falling shot

e) Lob shot


Learning points for falling shot

  1. Take a position outside the 6m line facing the goal.

  2. With the feet firm on the floor outside the goal area, fall towards the goal area .

  3. Release the ball before contacting the goal area with the hands or any other part of the body
