Citizenship is the state of legally belonging to a particular country.

The documents needed for identification are birth certificate, identification card and passport.


Citizens have rights and responsibilities.

  3. Right to own property.

  5. Right to food, shelter and clothing.

  6. Right to work.

  7. Right to education.

  8. Right to vote.

  9. Right of expression.

  10. Right of movement.

  11. Right of worship.

  12. Freedom of association.


Responsibilities of a Kenyan Citizen

  1. Respecting people and their property.

  2. Obeying the laws of the country.

  3. Conserving the environment.

  4. Paying taxes

  5. Respecting court orders

  6. Respect the constitution

  7. Helping the needy people in the society.

  8. Reporting suspected criminals.


Values of a good Kenyan citizen include

A value is something that people consider to be very important in their life.

In Kenya we have national values which all citizens are supposed to observe They include:

  2. Truthfulness

  3. Honesty

  4. Respect,

  5. Patriotism

  6. Obedience

  7. Responsible

  8. Fairness

  9. Justice


Patriotism is the love for one's country and putting the country's interest before your own.

A Patriotic Citizen is a citizen who loves his or her country and put the interest of the country ahead of his or her own.

One can demonstrate patriotism through.

  1. Paying Taxes.

  2. Promoting peace.

  3. Not revealing the secrets of the country.

  4. Obeying the laws of the country.

  5. Respecting the leaders of your country.

  6. Attending national celebrations like Madaraka day and Mashujaa day.
