Conductors and Non-conductors of Electricity

Classifying materials as Conductors and Non-conductors of electricity.

The ability to conduct electricity is called conductivity.

Some materials allow electricity to flow easily through them. These materials are

called conductors of electricity.

Examples of conductors of electricity are:

  1. Copper wire.

  2. Aluminum foil.

  3. Iron

  4. Carbon

Other materials do not allow electricity to flow through them. These materials are

called non-conductors of electricity.

They are also known as insulators.

Examples of insulators include:

  1. Plastics.

  2. Glass.

  3. Cloth.

  4. Threads.

  5. Rubber.

  6. Paper.

  7. Stone.

  8. Dry wood.

  9. Mattress.
